Nicole Eggers

President

University of Tennessee-Knoxville

Nicole Eggers is an Associate Professor of History at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Her research interests include 20th-21st Century Congolese history, health and healing, refugees and migration, and religion and politics in Central Africa. She is author of Unruly Ideas: A History of Kitawala in Congo (Ohio University Press, 2023)

Jeremy Rich is Professor of History at the Marywood University.

Joshua Castillo

Auburn University

Joshua Castillo is Assistant Professor of History at Auburn University. His research focuses on the historical relationship between language, power, and conflict in Central Africa, with a particular focus on the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He has learned and researched in Congo’s four national languages, Lingala, Swahili, Kikongo, and Ciluba, and has conducted multi-sited interdisciplinary historical research across DRC. His research has appeared in History in Africa and the International Journal of African Historical Studies and is forthcoming in The Journal of African History.
